The bank empowers schools through its community outreach programs.
BAWJIASE (C/R). The Bawjiase Area Rural Bank, located in the Central Region, has provided essential building materials valued at more than 14 million cedis to four educational institutions within its operational zone.
The donation saw Kasoa Presbyterian Junior Secondary School, as well as the Methodist and Anglican Junior Secondary Schools in Bawjiase, receive a supply of roofing sheets and nails. Additionally, Adeiso Presbyterian Senior Secondary School was supported with 50 bags of cement. During a ceremony held at the bank’s headquarters, the Manager, Mr. Augustus Yankey, emphasized that these contributions are a key component of the bank’s corporate social responsibility initiatives aimed at advancing local education.
Mr. Oppey Abbey, the Member of Parliament for Awutu-Senya and a Director of the bank, handed over the items, remarking that a solid educational foundation is the catalyst for national development. He further committed to providing personal assistance to students who demonstrate academic talent but lack financial means.
In his address, the MP also encouraged local school administrators to implement frequent quiz competitions to broaden the academic horizons of their students. Madam Margaret Tettey, Headmistress of the Bawjiase Anglican Junior Secondary School, accepted the donations on behalf of the recipients and conveyed their sincere appreciation to the bank.
Madam Tettey concluded by urging other corporate entities and local organizations to follow the bank’s lead. She noted that schools in the district face significant infrastructure and resource challenges that exceed the government’s solo capacity to resolve, making private sector intervention vital.
